Flashes of Clarity is a running blog that represents the moments in life where for a few seconds it all makes sense. For me, those moments happen when I run. It all feels right. It feels like anything you want to accomplish, can be accomplished. It feels like if you can cross that finish line, you can achieve any project/goal you have set at work or in your personal life.
I started running in 2014 just to lose a little bit of belly weight. I couldn’t run a mile without stopping to walk. But I kept going. One day I finished a mile jogging at a very slow pace. Then did 2 miles, then 3, then 4,5,6 all the way to 10 miles… In 2015 I decided to sign up for the 2016 Houston Marathon. I had never done any races before and here I was going for a full 26.2 mile race. I looked up training plans and trained on my own before and/or after work. I finished my first marathon in 4 hrs and 29 mins. I was so pumped I did the Chicago Marathon that same year and finished in 4hrs and 10min.
So I am hoo0oked! I love how sweet and supportive the running community is. I continue to work on improving my time, my diet and my work/life/health balance. It’s not easy, but it can be done!! This running blog will cover race recaps, tips, experiences and running stories, of course 🙂
